Top - "Norman Prince, killed Feb. 1916, Kiffin Rockwell, killed Feb. 1916, Paul Pavelka, killed May. 1917, Bert Hall (who left the squad in 1917 and was later reported by newspapers as claiming to be a Chinese ace going by the name, General Chang Hooey Chang.)

Bottom - "Jim McConnell's Nieuport plane. Shot down and killed March 17th, 1917."
The aircraft is a Nieuport 11, SFA No. 1292, sporting McConnells "hot foot" emblem.
