"Aerial photo of Austrian fleet in Pola Harbor, taken by WBH (Lt. Haviland) during a day bombing raid."

Pola at the time was part of the Austrian-Hungarian empire. After WW-I Pola and the region surrounding it became part of Italy. After Italy's defeat in WW-II Pola and the rest of Croatia became part of Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Croatia became an independent nation following the collapse of Yugoslavia.
