An Earlybird's Scrapbook

USNAS Porto Corsini (1918)

Book Two, Page Twelve, Left

"Comic policemen, during Liberty Loan drive at Porto Corsini, Italy."
(The liberty Loan was a program where personnel were encouraged to pledge part of their pay as loans for the war effort.)

Note: This photo also appeared in the Christmas, 1918 edition of The Leading Edge with the fllowing caption -

"Riverside Drive" during the Liberty Loan Parade, showing Chief of Police Coatsworth and his staff - the mighty arm of the law!
(Coatsworth undoubtedly refers to Ensign C.J. Coatsworth.)
