An Earlybird's Scrapbook

USNAS Porto Corsini

More Reproductions from The Leading Edge, Christmas, 1918

This section incudes scanned reproductions from The Leading Edge, USNAS Porto Corsini's station newspaper. Due to "grain" encountered when scanning print media these scans were made at only 200 dpi. Furthermore, the Christmas edition was printed in red, which affected the contrast of the images. These scans have been converted to grayscale in order to improve contrast.

(The uneven black lines separating the photos are original "art work" printed in the paper.)

Photo 1 - "Little but Oh My! One of our proud beauties out for an airing."

Photo 2 - "One of the fatal accidents that occurred during our stay at Porto Corsini - every bit of flammable material has been consumed by the fire that burst from the fallen machine as it crashed to the ground."

Photo 3 - "Here they are! Ready for the trip "over there" to Pola. All are very good reasons why the Horrible Hun didn't carry out their plan of blowing Porto Corsini off the map.

Photo 4 - "Who was it?
"Did he get out?
"Howdit happen?"
