"Hangar 5" houses some of Whidbey Island's electronic attack squadrons. The squadrons fly EA-6B "Prowlers" and EA-18G "Growlers", some of the most sophisticated in-service aircraft on the planet.

the VAQ pilots attend Top Gun school and practice, that reassuring distinctive and crisp roar from Prowlers and Growlers can often be heard.
