Announcement from ADM Roughead

Hangar 5 to be named Haviland Hangar

In 2010 CAPT Gerral David, the NAS Whidbey Island CO, and his staff developed a proposals to name two of the station's facilities after former Commanding Officers. In June, Building 12, the original command building, was named Simard Hall after the late Admiral Simard who served as the station's CO during WW-II when the Admiral was a Captain.

A second naming is scheduled for August, 2010, when the historic Hangar 5 will be renamed Haviland Hangar. The official correspondence relating to this naming is viewable from the links below.
